Following the [announcement by Salesforce](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=005132365&type=1&utm_source=techcomms&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=FY26_Core_4013001) that the security policy around `Connected Apps` is going to change, FieldBuddy is recommending that current users install the FieldBuddy Swift Connected Apps in your Salesforce orgs. Timeline for this change is 2nd September for all the **sandboxes**, since September 8 it is being rolled out to all **productions**.

### Why are we asking you to do this?

Salesforce made an [announcement](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=005132365&type=1&utm_source=techcomms&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=FY26_Core_4013001) on 18th August 2025 that they are changing the restrictions on Connected Apps. That might have an impact for any new user that want to login to FieldBuddy Swift since 9/8/2025.

Current users that are logged in into FieldBuddy using FieldBuddy Mobile Swift are be unaffected by the change, but to use FieldBuddy Swift by new users or if an existing users need to re-login, FieldBuddy Mobile Swift Connected App(s) has to be **installed**.

There is a straightforward step to **install** the FieldBuddy Swift connected app and we are asking users to do this before Salesforce start to roll out the changes to these restrictions.

### What to do

If your environment is using FieldBuddy Swift, then you will need to do next steps:

1. Go to the `Connected Apps OAuth Usage` section within `Setup` in your `Salesforce org`.
2. Find the FieldBuddy Swift apps in the list: `FieldBuddy Mobile Swift`, `FieldBuddy Mobile Swift [TEST]`
3. Click on `Install` for each of these apps.
**Note**: If `Uninstall` appears rather than `Install`, this means the app has already been installed and no further action is required.

4. Click on Install for each of the apps

5. Once installed, check the settings for the app and make sure your policy has a setting for `Permitted users` of `All users may self-authorise`.

Once you have installed the apps, they will now appear in the `Manage Connected Apps` section like so:

> ℹ️ IMPORTANT: If you **uninstall** one of the FieldBuddy Mobile Swift applications - then all of the FieldBuddy swift users will be logged out (their session will expire) and will be forced to re-enter their credentials!

### Which Connected apps are used by FieldBuddy

- `FieldBuddy Mobile Swift` - used by all regular FieldBuddy Swift users
- `FieldBuddy Mobile Swift [TEST]` - used by FieldBuddy Swift release candidate version that is distributed via test flight (so beta-version of FieldBuddy Swift)
- `FieldBuddy Mobile` (or sometimes - `SalesforceMobileSDK Sample App`) - those are apps that were used by old FieldBuddy Classic Mobile. Should be whitelisted only if those are used

### What if there is no FieldBuddy Swift in the list of connected apps?

In that case it is necessary to log in into FieldBuddy Swift using a user with System Administrator profile. Any other another user will not be able to log in with error `OAUTH_APPROVAL_ERROR_GENERIC`. After that the app will appear in the list of the list of `Connected Apps OAuth Usage`
