--- title: "Restrictions on Last Item Deletion in Location-based Work Orders" canonical: "https://help.fieldbuddy.com/space/FBDOCS/6689161217/Restrictions%20on%20Last%20Item%20Deletion%20in%20Location-based%20Work%20Orders" format: markdown --- # Rationale for Restrictions Location-based work orders has the ability to display [multiple top-level installed products](https://help.fieldbuddy.com/space/FBDOCS/6687784961/Glossary+of+Terms+used+for+Hierarchical+Installed+Products#Top-level-Installed-Products) in a work order at once, while Service Request Based Work Orders only support only one top-level installed product. This means that Location-based Work Orders have the potential to overburden the sync response with too many installed product data. In order to prevent this possibility, the installed products that are visible in the installed products tab of a location-based work order is limited to only **installed products with items**. This means that deleting the last item of an installed product may actually **unlink** that installed product from that work order, even if this wasn’t user’s intention. This necessites some restrictions on deletion of the last item linked to an installed product to prevent accidental unlinking. > ℹ️ The restrictions described in this page do not apply to Service Request Based Work Orders, which support only one top-level installed product and do not depend on work order items to be included in sync data. --- ### Restrictions on Last Item Deletion Different restrictions apply to [non-hierarchical](https://upperdeck.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FBDOCS/pages/6687784961/Glossary+of+Terms+used+for+Hierarchical+Installed+Products#Non-Hierarchical-Installed-Products) and [hierarchical](https://upperdeck.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FBDOCS/pages/6687784961/Glossary+of+Terms+used+for+Hierarchical+Installed+Products#Hierachical-Installed-Products) installed products. ### Non-hierarchical Installed Products User cannot delete the last item of a non-hierarchical installed product. When they attempt it, they will see the following message: | **English** | **Dutch** | | --- | --- | | `If you'd like to delete this item, you first need to add another one in order to keep ${InstallationLabel} related to the Work Order.` | `Als u dit item wilt verwijderen, moet u eerst een ander item toevoegen om ${InstallationLabel} aan de Werkbon gekoppeld te houden.` | ### Hierarchical Installed Products User can delete the last item of a hierarchical installed product, but some conditions apply. **At least one of these conditions have to met in order for the last item to be deletable.** #### **Condition** 1 If the installed product is a [lower-level installed product](https://help.fieldbuddy.com/space/FBDOCS/6687784961/Glossary+of+Terms+used+for+Hierarchical+Installed+Products#Lower-level-Installed-Products) of any another installed product, there must be at least one [higher-level installed product](https://help.fieldbuddy.com/space/FBDOCS/6687784961/Glossary+of+Terms+used+for+Hierarchical+Installed+Products#Higher-level-Installed-Products) of that installed product that has at least one item. #### Condition 2 If the installed product is a [higher-level installed product](https://help.fieldbuddy.com/space/FBDOCS/6687784961/Glossary+of+Terms+used+for+Hierarchical+Installed+Products#Higher-level-Installed-Products) of any another installed product, there must be at least one [lower-level installed product](https://help.fieldbuddy.com/space/FBDOCS/6687784961/Glossary+of+Terms+used+for+Hierarchical+Installed+Products#Lower-level-Installed-Products) of that installed product that has at least one item. Example: Consider this setup of installed products in a work order: ── Control Cabinet – 0 item ├──> Power Supply Unit – **1 item** ├──> **PLC Controller** –** 1 item ** │ ├──> CPU Module – 0 items │ ├──> I/O Module – 0 items │ │ └──> Digital Input/Output Card – 0 items │ └──> Communication Module – 0 items └──> Cooling Fan – **1 item** In this example, user cannot delete the last item from **PLC Controller **because: - **Control Cabinet **has no items. (condition 1 is not met) - Neither** I/O Module, CPU Module, Digital Input/Output Card, nor Communication Module** have no items. (condition 2 is not met) Example: Consider this setup of installed products in a work order: ── Control Cabinet – 0 items ├──> Power Supply Unit – **1 item** ├──> PLC Controller – 0 items │ ├──> CPU Module – **1 item** │ ├──> I/O Module – **1 item** │ │ └──> Digital Input/Output Card – 0 items │ └──> Communication Module – **1 item** └──> Cooling Fan – **1 item** In this example, user cannot delete the last item of** I/O Module**, because: - **Digital Input/Output Card** has no items (condition 2 is not met). - Neither **Control Cabinet** nor **PLC Controller **has no items. (condition 1 is not met). When these deletions are attempted, user will see the following message: | **English** | **Dutch** | | --- | --- | | If IPs on a lower-level depend on a higher-level item: `"If you'd like to delete this item, you must add at least one item to every one of its descendants without items.`
If IP depends on an item on lower-level or higher-level: `If you'd like to delete this item, you must add at least one item to at least one its ascendants or descendants.` | If IPs on a lower-level depend on a higher-level item: `Als u dit item wilt verwijderen, moet u ten minste één item toevoegen aan elk van de descendanten zonder items.`
If IP depends on an item on lower-level or higher-level: `Als u dit item wilt verwijderen, moet u ten minste één item toevoegen aan ten minste één van de ascendanten of descendanten.` | # Known Issues - The items of the location based work orders (some customers use it) doesn’t have last item deletion restrictions.
