AN ANDROID UPDATE IS PLANNED FOR NEXT YEAR. ``` ## 🚀** **Next version **is scheduled for release on Tuesday evening, December 9 (Amsterdam time).** This update will bring a more performant attachment experience with smarter, faster uploads/downloads thanks to the introduction of batch uploading and renditions. Additionally, browsing and selecting images is easier thanks to the new image picker. The original, high-resolution image is downloaded only when user views it in detail. Attachment action buttons now display updated labels that clearly reflect what the button does, such as sharing the file, saving the file to gallery, or viewing the web version of the same file. These changes improve clarity for accessing and previewing attachments. | ![image]() | ![image]() | | --- | --- | ## **Native Image Picker Integration** Users can now access photos through the native image picker in iOS and Android. | | | | --- | --- | | ![image]() | ![image]() | ## **Improved, Duplicate-free Uploads using Batching** Uploads now use a batching system, allowing multiple attachments to be sent in a single request, rather than one at a time. This improves efficiency while uploading multiple files. Swift also detects previously unacknowledged uploads and prevents these files from being included in batches. ## **Unified Attachment Preview and Edit Screen** All attachments, regardless of the record they are linked to, now use a single, consistent preview and editing screen for details. User can also pinch or double-tap to zoom in to the attachment. It is also possible to directly preview PDF for attachments (only available for iOS and with internet connection). User can also edit the filename and description of attachments added to checklist fields. | | | | --- | --- | | ![image]() | ![image]() | ## **Deferred Attachment Uploads in Checklists** Attachments no longer upload immediately upon selection, and uploads only begin once user exits or saves the checklist, also if checklist are restored after re-opening of Swift. This change ensures uploads of files do not interfere with saving of the checklist and thus improve performance. ## **Image Compression for File Picker Uploads** Images selected using the file picker rather than the image picker are now also automatically compressed before upload. ## **Periodic Attachment Cleanup** Attachments that are not associated with any records and are not pending upload are periodically removed from cache to save disk space. ## New Attachment Management Screen A new screen displays attachments that were added by the user, but are not uploaded yet. Users can retry uploading all of these attachments using the upload action. Another option allows users to delete persistently failing attachments at once. The most notable new options are listed below. - Admins have control over the number and size of attachments uploaded in a batch, which can be seen under `batching` configuration options. The default option informs users only when there are persistent upload errors.
