##  🔖 Introduction

Smart Planning an Appointment is a module of [FieldBuddy Service Center](https://upperdeck.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FBDOCS/pages/5041750021) that allows planners  optimise the the schedule of mechanics for certain date range (or individual days) as well as allow to plan selection of work orders into the agenda of mechanics.

It takes into account restrictions of the work orders, such as skills, scheduled period start/end date, locks on the existing appointments and priority.

At the moment it can be accessed via Dispatch Panel.

## :fieldbuddy:  Prerequisites

Smart Planning is only available for FieldBuddy Enterprise customers, and require an activation from FieldBuddy team. Smart Planning module contains base components as well as different providers that are responsible for optimisation itself. Each provider itself is in an format of extension package that has to be installed and activated by FieldBuddy team before usage.

Also all of the Locations should have the GPS coordinates. Usually those are provided via [https://upperdeck.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FBDOCS/pages/5371723777](https://upperdeck.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FBDOCS/pages/5371723777) but in case if there are data loads in bulk - it might be necessary to use a custom key due to limits.

## \uD83D\uDCD8 How it works

It can be invoked by the doing a right button click on scheduler or resource (s) and clicking Optimize  
After that a popup will appear that will allow you to select date range to optimize, respective resources and other options  
It is possible to select either a date range OR individual days, as well as ignore appointment locks (only time lock and resource locks). Scheduled period start and scheduled period end dates are still applied.  
After all the options are specified and optimize button is clicked - Smart Planning job will start and appointments will get a little rotating icon in top left corner of each one  
Within few minutes, smart planning job will be completed. After the job is completed, the respective appointments will be updated with new start/end time or resource.

> ⚠️ In case if existing appointment can not be planned within the optimisation problem - it will be marked as failed and it is expected to planner to address this.

## 🔧  How to configure it

It can be configured via the [Configuration Panel](https://upperdeck.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FBDOCS/pages/5365268532) → Smart Planning

It contains a few tabs in which you can change various parameters of smart planning, as well as observe settings per each smart planing provider in separate tab.

### Settings Tab

Allows to enabled/disable smart planning overall, pick the smart planning provider, specify default shift hours or limit access of smart planning to some users only.

It also allows to enable absences

### Job Logs

Contains recent Smart Planning Job records that were recently run

### Visualise Smart Planning or Route for Resource tabs

 Allows to visualise the technical data of the optimisation. Can be handy for fine-tuning or tracking of errors
