## What is FieldBuddy Swift

FieldBuddy Swift is an offline* first native application built in the framework [React Native](https://reactnative.dev/).

The mobile application is primarily used for processing work orders that are dispatched to the user. The goal is that the user has minimal administration and all the information in the palm of his hands, so that the user can focus on the physical work itself.

FieldBuddy Swift enables users to see its schedule, navigate to the correct location, do the required work and register the required data and then close the Work Order. The layout of the app can be customized through the [Configuration Editor](https://upperdeck.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FBSC/pages/4940759092/What+is+the+configuration+editor).

FieldBuddy Swift works on tablet and phone. Read more about hardware and software requirements [here](https://upperdeck.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FBDOCS/pages/5367464036).

## Releases and updates

Read more about out our overall release strategy [here](https://upperdeck.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FBDOCS/pages/5262802967/What+is+FieldBuddy#Releases-%26-Updates). For FieldBuddy Swift there are two types of updates:

1. Updates via the store
2. Updates over the air

### Updates via the store

These updates are pushed via the Apple App store and Google Play store. Users require to manually update the mobile app in case they do not have automatic updates enabled.

### Updates over the air

These updates are pushed via our deployment system and do not require any action of the user. A user is notified and a restart will automatically take place.

## Fast and slow ring

A user can be part of the slow or fast ring. The definitions are the following:

- Slow ring: the latest stable version
- Fast ring: the newest released version

Read more about it in our [release note](https://upperdeck.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FBDOCS/pages/5313134605/3.480.1+-+Swift+-+Slow+Fast+rings#%F0%9F%9B%A0-Fixes-and-Improvements).
