Sandboxes are isolated instances from your Salesforce org. There are multiple types of sandboxes, all with a different purpose in mind. For example, a **developer** sandbox is used for development and testing with limited data inside the org where a **full** sandbox is a full copy of your production org.

For all different types of sandboxes and their purpose, click [here](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sf.create_test_instance.htm&type=5).

> ℹ️ Assumptions:
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ The user has logged in to Salesforce and has system administrator rights. For more information about logging in, click [here](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sf.basics_intro_logging_in.htm&type=5).

1. Use the gear icon (⚙)to access the setup menu.
2. From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter ‘Sandbox’, and then select '**Sandboxes'**.

3. On the next page, you can create a new sandbox by clicking on **“New Sandbox”**. Also, you can see an overview of existing sandboxes and how many (different) types of sandboxes you have left.

4. Give the sandbox a name and choose what type of sandbox you require.

> ⚠️ We recommend that you choose a name that:
> ⚠️
> ⚠️ - Reflects the purpose of this sandbox, such as company name+acceptance.
> ⚠️ - It has only a few characters, because Salesforce appends the sandbox name to usernames on user records in the sandbox environment. Names with fewer characters make sandbox logins easier to type.

> ℹ️ Some considerations when creating, refreshing or deleting sandboxes can be found [here](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sf.data_sandbox_create_refresh_delete.htm&type=5).
